Shortly after the World War Second current leadership
of the town Kopřivnice helped to detach one of the historical
buildings in Janáčkovy park on behalf of a museum. Here Emil Hanzelka
- native of Kopřivnice - moved his private collections and started
to form the exhibition of Laąské Museum.
On 24th August 1947 the Museum was first open for wide public.
Products of local factory, which produced earthenware and artistic
ceramics, composed major part of the exhibitions. There were also
exhibited Tatra automobiles.
In 1953 it was decided to re-build the Museum to the Museum of
automobile and ceramic industry. Great merit in the next development
of the Museum has ex-champion Josef Veřmiřovský, who used to get
parts and components, engines and discarded Tatra automobiles
for the collections.
In 1967 (near to the Laąské Museum) was built new glass exhibition
pavilion and the Museum was transfered under control of Tatra,
national enterprise.
In 1997 the exhibits were moved to the new building in the centre
of Kopřivnice.
