In Wallachia there are many interesting cultural sights, which have to be visited and should never be disregarded. In town Roznov pod Radhostem is the Skanzen museum that is full of wooden buildings from ages past.
The same number of people who visit Prague's famous castle each year visits this natural cultural sight. The museum was established under the concept of a
"Living Museum" and it is possible to see the traditional ways of life along with the technical working tools, trades and know how of our past.
Some of the other important sights that can be seen are the historic city house in Valasske Mezirici, the castle in Vsetin and the remains of the castle in the city of Stamberk, which houses the jaw bone of the world famous Neanderthal caveman who they call Sipka. In the province of the castle ruins at Hukvaldy is a village where the author Leos Janacek was born.
In Hodslavice is a wooden church that was built in 1551 and is the oldest wooden building in the Czech Republic. The writer Frantisek
Palacky was born here.
The beauty of the Beskydy and Wallachia has
inspired many poets, writers, artists and composers. In the local galleries you can see many old works of art as well as many new works of art by our present day painters, sculptors and photographers.
In the many churches and concert venues it is possible to see many concerts by artists who are performing traditional classical music and modern popular music.
In Roznov pod Radhostem, the sights include
the traditional manufacture of cheese, cakes, sausage, smoked meat and plum brandy, the famous
"Slivovitz".
Something that cannot be thought of without thinking of Wallachia is folklore.All year round you can see and hear traditional dancing and music in the open air museum in Roznov, which has a very eventful yearly program.
