The city had a unique development site, which although planned, was not chosen because of any previously existing landmarks (a village, confluence of rivers, fort, etc.). The city center is its square, and the main streets lead out from its corners. Dominating the city are the church and chateau, the latter located next to the old city walls, which once had three gates.
Of the town's historical monuments, the chateau has been preserved quite well. It was built in 1579 in the North Renaissance Style, when reconstruction of an original Gothic castle connected two Gothic wings with a third section that contained arched hallways. The chateau burned down in 1641 and was rebuilt between 1766-68 in the Baroque style, which it has managed to keep up to the present day. The Artistic Portal dates from 1779. On the back of the chateau's grounds was once a castle, which was fortified by walls and a moat and existed as early as 1432, despite the earliest written mention dating from 1506. Today there are still very beautiful one-story arches in the courtyard.
It is worth visiting the chateau thanks to an excellent sample of baroque architecture, a picture gallery and library and thanks to the historic garden and park around the chateau. Admission:
