Like every region in the Czech Republic, in Ceske Stredohori & Cesky Kras region are breweries very common. One of the oldest and most popular breweries is the Kings Brewery in Krusovice. The Brewery was founded in th year 1581 and in the year 1583 it was purchased by emperor Rudolf II. for the Czech Crown and was associated with the Krivoklat estate.
You can find Krusovice beer in many Prague pubs and restaurants - there are 3 types of Krusovice beer:
10% light
10% dark
12% light lager
The first written document confirming the existence of the brewery comes from 1581. Since that date, the production of beer has never been significantly interrupted. The year 1583 was of great importance as Emperor and King Rudolf II. bought the brewery for the Czech Crown and joined it to the Krivoklat Castle Estate.
Rudolf II. had the Krusovice beer delivered to the Prague Castle, where it is still sent even today. The brewery developed successfully due to its advantageous location (close to the trade route from German provinces to Prague) and to the abundance of high quality domestic barley, hops from the Zatec and water from the protected territory of the Krivoklat forests.
At present the brewery is equipped with the latest technology enabling production of top-quality beer. Beer is excellent taste, vigorously full bodied with fine bitter hop flavor.
